Parallel Justice

Presentations & Workshops

The Burlington Parallel Justice program can provide workshops and presentations for your group or organization!

Parallel Justice supports people who have experienced victimization from crime and specific harms, as well as cultivates safe communities that empower neighbors and visitors to reduce crime and harm. We strive to disrupt behaviors, attitudes, and beliefs that perpetuate cycles of violence. We constantly seek to expand our efforts to meet the needs of an increasingly diverse Burlington and Chittenden County community.

Our presentation, workshop, panel, and training topics include:

  • Introduction to Parallel Justice and Dedicated Victim Services

  • Victim Services for Restorative Justice Practitioners

  • Empathy and the Victim Experience

  • Victim as Offender, Offender as Victim: Removing the Binary

  • Victim Services for New American, Refugee, & Immigrant Communities

  • Cultural Competency for Victim Service Providers

  • Social Justice and Victim Services

  • Mental Health and Victim Services

  • Addiction and Victim Services

  • Establishing a Parallel Justice/Dedicated Victim Services Program (start by checking out our Implementation Guide!

To get a better idea of how we can best provide our services to you and your group, we have some questions. We aim to meet your needs, so please be thorough and honest!

We will do our best to respond to all requests within 48 hours, but feel free to reach out via phone if that timeline does not work for you: 802-264-0765 (Barb Shaw-Dorso, Victim Services Manager, bshawdorso@burlingtonvt.goc)

Thank you for your interest! As of right now, our presentations & workshops are on hold. Check back soon!
